Counseling Practice

The bulk of the LADAC exam is on the 12 core functions, also known as the 8 core competencies.  These are the professional tasks accomplished when the counselor is helping the client.  There is a detailed explanation of these functions in Technical Assistance Publication number 21.  Students preparing for competency exams are encouraged to read this text thoroughly, and identify any information that is unfamiliar or requires further investigation.

Both the LADAC and the CADAC are based on the 12 core functions.
